Ph. D. (Computer Science) Programme

A research programme leading to Ph. D. (Computer Science) was introduced in the session 1998-1999 in the department. The department has produced more than fifty Ph. D. in Computer Science so far.

At present, this programme is being run as Full Time and Part Time programme. Candidates are admitted to research programme through two channels:

  • Research Entrance Test (RET) – A candidate qualifying this exam is considered for admission. The RET is conducted by Gurukula Kangri (Deemed to be University) every year.
  • Direct Admission (RET exempted)   A candidate having valid score card of  UGC/ CSIR (NET-JRF)/ NET/ SLET/ GATE examination or Teacher Fellowship  under QIP/ FDP/ FIP is considered for admission.

The RET qualified candidates and those eligible for Direct Admission are called for interview to discuss their research area before the Departmental Research Committee. The final selection for research programme is based on the performance of candidates in the interview and as per the policy of Gurukula Kangri (Deemed to be University).

Master in Computer Application

The three years’ full-time Master of Computer Application (MCA) programme was initiated in the department in academic session 1993-1994 when University Grants Commission, New Delhi accorded permission to start this programme under its Manpower Training Programme in Computer Science and Technology. The spirit of this programme is embodied in the objectives of developing the students’ capabilities into professional talent in the software development arena. The Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) was incorporated in this programme from the session 2015-2016.
The curriculum of this programme is updated regularly keeping in view the demands of the software industry and the latest trends. Guest lectures are arranged and eminent personalities are invited to address the students to equip them with the latest trends in this rapidly changing field of knowledge. The admission to this programme is on the basis of merit of the entrance examination, conducted by Gurukula Kangri (Deemed to be University), through counselling.
Since its inception, the three-year MCA programme has been successfully run by the department and the 25th batch passed out in session 2019-2020. The AICTE, New Delhi accorded its approval for the MCA programme in session 2020-21. The duration of this programme, as per AICTE notification, is two years with effect from session 2020-2021.

B. Sc. (Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics)

In academic session 1988-89, keeping in view the emerging scope of Computer education, a new subject combination group was introduced in the university which allowed students to choose Computer Science as an option for Chemistry. Since then, the department contributed to the conduction of the Graduate programme B. Sc. (Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics). This programme incorporates the Choice Based Credit System and admission to this programme is on the basis of educational merit through counselling.
