Research

The department started a research program leading to Ph. D. in Computer Science in session 1998-1999 and continues to engage in research activities since the commencement of this program. The faculty members are actively involved in research activities and pursuing research in several contemporary areas. The major research areas of the department include Distributed Systems, Image Processing, Remote Sensing and GIS, Mobile Ad Hoc Networks, Wireless Sensor Networks, Software Engineering, Cloud Computing, Cryptography, Machine Learning Applications, etc.

Around 200 research papers have been published by faculty members in National/ International journals of repute out of which around 70 were published in the last five years. Faculty members have also presented their research papers at various National/ International conferences etc. More than fifty research scholars have been awarded Ph. D. degree in Computer Science. Several research scholars are pursuing research in the department and some of them are getting fellowships under various schemes for research scholars of the Government of India. A couple of funded projects are in progress in the department.
